American Staffordshire Terriers
American Staffordshire Terriers are a wonderful breed and by nature, love people. They are intelligent, and have a desire to please their owners. Each dog is an individual and they have their owner personaliy as with any breed. Some can be dog aggressive while others are not. Training and socialization are a must and benefits both dog and owner. When in public you must concider yourself an ambassador for the breed, and present yourself and your dog in the best manner.
Am Staffs are easy care with their short coat, and minimal grooming. Regular nail trimmings, ear and tooth care are the basics along with regular brushings, and baths make up the majority of the Am Staffs care. Premium dog food and fresh water are a must. I want to write about my new puppy. Her name is Lexus and she is currenty 7 months old. I have been looking for a new show dog, and after much research, settled on a georgeous tiger brindle female from a breeder in Kentucky.
It was love at first site from the photographs. I don't recommend buying a puppy site unseen, but I had known this breeder for many years and trusted her judgement and knowledge in the breed to assure me a quality puppy. I had her flown to Maine at 12 weeks old, and I am extremely happy with the way she is maturing. She had her first show at 6 months old and did very well earning her first point toward her championship.
I look forward to completing her conformation championship and continueing on to an obedience title along with a CGC (Canine Good Citizen Certification) which is a temperment title. I hope you enjoyed this article. Happy Trails
